Yesterday thousands of young Americans found out that within just a few months they could lose their jobs and be deported.
For some of our Uniting NC staff and many of our Code the Dream students, this would mean losing the only home they can remember. Some have lived here since elementary school, others since they were 3 months old. And with their Southern accents, diplomas, and one hand always on their cell phones, there’s not much beyond a piece of paper that makes them different than any other American.
Over the next weeks, we will be working hard on a number of fronts to support our students and others like them. In addition to our own efforts, we’ll also keep the StandWithUsNC.org events page updated with other events and initiatives around the state.
Thank you in advance for your support and for being there when it matters.
